Beautiful trip the a range of terrain, the length makes it the only hard part about the trip :)
Great trail gets the blood pumping!!! wear good boots/ shoes it can get a bit rough
I really liked this loop, but I was not able to finish it as I ran out of battery on my GPS.
The first 9 miles is great! The last 18 is very open and exposed. The last uphill is very steep also, which is tough 20 miles in.
A challenging hike that explores the diversity of Mt Diablo. Bring plenty of water (4L) or a filtration kit; you can only refill at the South Gate camp ground. Lots of exposure so start very early to avoid heat and complete before dark. Hiking poles recommended as legs will be tired at the end. Please post your experience with this hike when you’re done. Safe hiking!
