Beautifully maintained trail with challenging inclines. I started on vineyard trail and think this is steeper than the other way. Including walking from the parking area and visiting the ancient redwood this is actually a little over 9 miles. Make a little time to view the historical buildings and definitely treat yourself to Juanita Juanita for lunch after.

Amazing ride! Must go counter clockwise! NOT AN INTERMEDIATE RIDE. Experts only on the downhill, single track, sketch washouts, wear gear. Could go up and back to avoid downhill. Will be riding this again.

Great day hike. It was closer to 9 miles. The signs are confusing, so be sure to have your all trails map out to make sure you’re on the correct path. The redwoods are beautiful, and the views towards the top are stunning.

Very strenuous in parts but well worth it. Mostly shaded which is good on a hot day.

Great trail! I got there around 1030 on a cloudy Saturday and maybe saw 12 total people over the whole trail. You might want sunscreen for the last bit as parts of it are in the sun, but most of it is shady with beautiful trees towering over you. Great leg workout as it’s largely uphill, but worth it at the top. Just watch out for horse poop in the first mile. I would also recommend long pants of some kind for the trail as there is a lot of low brush- ended picking out many sticky buds from my pants and socks.

really great hike + uphill workout in such a cool historic spot! recommend kicking this hike off via hanging the first right on Lake trail that will lead you into some beautiful redwood groves to begin with (in addition to lots of fun off-trail backwoods to dart around and explore). we initially started on vineyard but then backtracked and took quarry up instead which was a good call in terms of the forest scenery + less horse poop. it's really magical throughout but the views are especially gorgeous once you start getting to the new fallen bridge + upper fallen bridge part.

So, let me begin this review by mentioning our recent rain here. We’ve had a LOT of it but it has been clear the past couple of days. There were a lot of streams to cross, no problem. Trees downed, requiring you to cross over or under, again no problem. We got to the last section of trail named “Orchard Trail” and there was no trail... there was a pond... ducks included! We back tracked to the Pear Trail, then to Fallen Bridge & back to the parking lot. We both were covered in ticks by the end, so be prepared. It was a very beautiful hike with lots of waterfalls, our total mileage was 10.3. We will definitely give it another chance, just can’t recommend enough to wait until the water subsidies.

New favorite hike! A bit muddy on several sections due to some heavy recent rains. Had to scramble over a HUGE double trunk redwood that had fallen over the trail near a stream crossing as well as wriggle through part of an oak as you near the top of the ridge going clockwise.

If you go to where coon meets Sonoma ridge trail take the black un named trail that shows it comes to an end, and it does but just before the end there is a no trespassing fire road that goes down and to the left, if you take that path down to the road (grove street) then go a little ways right on grove (down hill) about 100 yards past the set of mailboxes there is a 75 foot tall waterfall . You can hear the water when you are near. Don’t get caught. I have been going there for 35 years

Great place to go when you want to get out of the sun 90% under the oak and redwood canopy.

Definitely do the trail clockwise for a challenging climb. And the best part- pick blackberries at the begining or end of your hike!

had a great hike it ended up being a little over 9 miles, the trails are not marked the best and there was a lot of ticks . But it was still a very good workout hike lots of incline and decline. I loved the peek a boo views through the trees, it was a great shaded hike.

We started at the Vineyard Trail, followed by the Coon Trap Trail. Much of the ascent was on the coon Trap Trail. Once reached to top it was a gradual downward slope through the beautiful woods. It was a great hike.

The coon trail is currently closed for restoration. It was too steep and hard to follow. I turned around and retraced my steps for a total of 10 miles. An awesome trail run! Beware of spider webs as you run. I was the first on the trail for the day and ran into several.

Absolutely stunning! A bit muddy in spots from recent rains, but doable and so worth the trek to the summit.

Absolutely beautiful... not many people! Great exercise. Great views. The scenery is constantly changing!!

Overall the hike was wonderful. Next time, I would hike the loop clockwise. We completed the hike counter clockwise causing the steeper elevation difference in the decent versus the assent. It was tough going down hill. Also, although high enough in elevation to have the view, the surrounding trees and vegetation hindered the view. The weather was delightful and the canopy of the trees keep things shaded and cool. The loop wound up being 10.3 versus 8.3 miles, so take into consideration. Well groomed trails. Timmy Couvillion

Took mountain trail to Sonoma ridge all the way out and came back Coon Trap trail. It had some nice views, was in the shade but long- 11+ mile loop.

Beautiful views! Moderate is correct. We started at the North Sonoma Mountain trail head and walked all the way into Glen Ellen for lunch. We set up a shuttle back to the trail head. Second time on this trail and I plan on more. Start early it gets hot!
