Nice walking to the border of Montana de Oro State Park.
Absolutely beautiful bay, dunes and ocean scenery. We enjoyed the variety of wildflowers and the section of trail we were on had almost no poison oak. Be prepared for walking in deep sand for the full length of your walk. I wore sport sandals with wool socks on a cool day and was comfortable, allowing for sand to flow out on its own. Enjoy.
“Moderate” is putting it lightly if you haven’t done cardio in about 7 years. Part of this is a decent incline in ALL SAND. I am tired.
Great coastal hike from Monarch Ln to the Sea. A bit challenging for those not in Cardio-shape since it is all through sand. The next to last leg involves a slog over a 80 foot Sand Dune. Nice views on top, then on to the Ocean. Mostly locals take these routes with 3 or more variants. Takes about 1 1/2 hours at a leisurely pace. It is of course optional if you want to con't walking along the beach toward Morro Rock. Best time to go is not when they fence off Snowy Plower breeding areas. Impressive views, few people, & quite peaceful.
