This trail is nice for viewing flowers and butterflies in the spring, has decent hills for cardio and can be varied to change up the distance. The rain can washout the trail sometimes.

Park across the street in the Zoo lot or by the train. Path was muddy as it had rained the day before. There are also 2 stream crossings so we had to jump across rocks since there was a decent amount of water. There were no shady characters around the day but I have done this walk around dusk and it becomes a homeless camp.

This is my least favorite hike in San Diego. Be careful after sunset as this area is known for problems.

Very dog friendly, a neat trail in the cut of Morley field. ALMOST feels like you’re out of the city. I went close to sunset, I would definitely recommend going with a friend at this time. It’s a pretty short trail.

Depending on where you are will tell if if the trail is any good. Some parts have small patches of rocks which is the worse offense. The slight inclines and no shade were fine in the early morning.

Super dog friendly, small trail network with nice views, even though you can see/hear cars on the road the whole time. Small creek still had some water trickling in early June.

Ranger and I️ used to walk a version of this trail every night when we lived in NP. Makes you feel like you’re out in the country while being in the center of SD.

These trails are on the east side of the Florida Canyon, and start behind the tennis and baseball courts. Certain parts are wide and flat, and lined with eucalyptus trunks. Other parts are small, sometimes with small offshoot loop trails. If you have time to wander, it's a nice vantage over the canyon and you can see the succulent garden, some buildings in Balboa Park, and the Navy Hospital. From certain points you also get downtown views. And maybe a few brown bunnies, and a snake or two. Pretty mellow, easy trail. Lots of local folks walk through, bikers too.
