The hike along Moore Creek is a journey into the deep recesses of a secluded canyon. The trail first climbs high on the canyon wall and enjoys sweeping vistas before descending to the creek. NOTE: The upstream portion of the hike has many creek crossings. If the water level is high, it is best to avoid this part of the trail. The loop section can still be hiked during periods of high water.

I’ve just uploaded the Moore Creek hiking map. The trails have expanded since the description of this trail was made. This is a great hiking area for winter. Lots of migratory birds to see along the shoreline trail.

Find a vista hike that includes Oak woodlands, elevation changes and a moderate workout; and you’ve found a great day in your path! The Valentine trail loops up hill, then brings you back down and puts you back on a dirt road along Moore Creek as you complete the 3.1 Miles. It’s a good afternoon hike. We hiked on a Friday afternoon an met one other couple.

Did this hike yesterday afternoon, and overall is was a beautiful strenuous hike. It's labeled as a loop here on alltrails, but is actually an out and back; the trail is relatively new and is still being worked on in some areas. Here are some of my feelings about the trek:
Cons- it is not clearly enough marked and the map doesn't help at all. Once you arrive at the pools the hike is over, but no where does it say this, and there is also a trail across the creek that looks like it's a continuation of the "loop." ultimately I made some mistakes of my own (starting later in the day, not bringing sufficient lights) and ended up hiking back the way I came in the dark.
pros- it's is a very low trafficked trail; my dog and I were the only ones on it for five hours. She was able to be off leash and thoroughly enjoyed playing in the creek. We hiked on a day that was misty and somewhat rainy, but not enough to warrant a jacket. the trail was beautiful, vibrant leaves and views. the trail consists of about 6 creek crossings, so be sure to wear appropriate shoes! we also came across several salamanders, which was super cool.

all in all, very good hike, just don't hike past the pools unless you have a lot more light in the day. NOT a loop ;)

great trail, well marked and easy to follow. dog had a blast! easy parking, even had a toilet in the beginning of the trail.
The only reason why this is getting 4 stars is because there wasn't really anything special to see here... If you're looking for scenery this is probably not the place for you.

Beautiful well marked trails with just enough elevation change to make it a good workout. Plenty of parking and we didn't run into another person.

Nice trail. Definitely start on the Valentine Vista trail then finish with the out-back. Nice diversity of terrain. Very peaceful creek-side finish to the hike.

Pros
Dog friendly, shaded for most of the out and back Moore Creek Trail, 5 creek crossings with a shallow "pool" and small waterfall at the end, plentiful parking with a port-a-potty at trailhead, steep parts were short, lightly trafficked. Wider trail for a good portion of it, and not much poison oak.

Cons
Dog got two ticks even on leash the whole way and on trail the whole time--and not walking through any brush (which was a tad surprising but we are out of doors, so it was fine).
some single track with small bunches/bushes of poison oak so be mindful. not a pool at the end--more like one foot deep areas in the creek (unless i missed it).

all in all, a really wonderful hike!
