perfect walk along the boardwalk on a windy day. the swells were 8 to 12 feet, we felt the ocean spray as the waves crashed against the cliffs.

I loved this trail. You can get off to walk the beach, I saw surfers, sea lions, bunnies, squirrels, beautiful flowers and much more. Down by the shore there’s lots of wood piled up in a tasteful manner. Very peaceful. A must.

Not a bike friendly town like Monterey or Carmel. We are likely never to come back here again.

Easy boardwalk trail with breathtaking views of the ocean on one side and adorable hotel zone on the other. About a mile in take the stairs down to the tide pools and rock formations. Stones and driftwood creations on the beach are a treat.

Really fun to make a loop out of this hike, taking the boardwalk in one direction and the beach back in the other. Very popular trail, but with good reason. Super cool windblown trees, so many wildflowers, wildlife (seals, ground squirrels), and the beach is stunning - covered in gorgeous colorful pebbles. Free parking multiple locations. Started at North end of trail, and ran down the Boardwalk to Moonstone Beach. Interesting sites to see which is why I videoed it for my Youtube Channel. Beautiful beach to have picnic on too!

Very nice boardwalk trail on the bluffs above the beaches and rocky surf. There are many access points to beaches and several viewpoints. Parking lots are easy, free and paved. You can also just pull over along Moonstone Beach Drive and access the trail from multiple points.

As other reviewers have said, this is a very accessible (we saw an elderly woman on it with a walker) boardwalk trail that parallels Moonstone Beach Drive. There are many staircases down to the beach and platforms from which to enjoy the beach views. It ends in a park and small beach. It is lovely trail in a charming town - I recommend it!

This is more of a boardwalk than a trail, but that being said, it is one of my favorite places to stop on my way up or down the California coast. It is beautiful any time of day, but you’ll need a sweater or windbreaker with that ocean breeze. It is hardly a long walk, but still delightful. Dogs are welcome on the boardwalk, but have recently been banned from the beach. So if you plan to climb the stairs to the water, plan to leave your four-legged friends behind. The beach is famous for having tiny stones that crunch beneath your feet instead of the usual sand, including chalcedony (often mistaken for moonstone) and real jade. Really a treat if you’ve never stopped here before. It’s a great place to stop and stretch your legs on a long drive. But I wouldn’t call it a hike. (And there are public bathrooms and a water faucet at one end of the parking lot.)

We stayed in Cambria one night in the summer of 2016, wish we had planned a few more. I had not previously heard of this town, we were on the way to big sur. I hiked the beachside boardwalk for hours. An amazingly peaceful, spiritual kind of hike. Between the moonstone beaches, the beautiful mountains to the north towards Big Sur and the eternal fog in the distance it added up to a very enchanting walk at sunset.

It's always very crowded. You won't get any solitude on this beach or it's trails. However, the views are stunning, par for the course for the central California coast. Be prepared as it can be downright cold at this beach during the summer months, coupled with the everpresent onshore breeze, a windbreaker is a must.
