This was one of our favorite hikes we’ve done since moving to San Diego a little over a year ago. Great views, great scenery, and well marked trails. We went in late November so everything was pretty dry but still very beautiful. Took us about 4 hours to complete including a lunch break and frequent water breaks. Overall the hike was not very strenuous at all. The only mildly difficult part was summiting Monument Peak at the beginning of the hike. 10/10 would recommend this hike to anyone looking for a change of scenery from the surrounding desert landscape.

I thought that Monument Peak and Foster Ridge were the only noteworthy views along the trail. Monument Peak is right off the road and was my favorite part. The peak is about a mile or so in off the trail head off the road and is worth it for the view of the west facing mountains giving way to the desert. The color contrasts between the two are amazing. The last half of the loop isn't really worth it. The majority of it goes through the Mt. Laguna Campground. Also, the trail is rated as moderate but I thought it was pretty easy - it was essentially flat the whole entire way except for Monument Peak.
