Beautiful walk along the beach. Get here early as it gets extremely crowded by 10am or so.

Did this trail while my family went to the aquarium (I'm afraid of fish). It was a great, easy, flat trail on the coastline that was perfect for running. Trail takes you past lovers point, beaches filled with sea lions and lots of small outlets to get down to the beach and enjoy a quite moment with the waves. Trail overall is crowded with lots of walkers, joggers and people riding 4 person bikes but that didn't detract from my enjoyment of the views at all. Near lovers point there are clean bathrooms and also some delicious smelling cafes to pick up a sugar fix. Highly recommend this walk or running path during any trip to Monterey!

Beautiful but not stroller friendly. Beautiful views of the sea but if you have small children you would need to make sure they do not get near the cliffs

It was a really nice trail for running. You don’t get to the the coast all along the trail but half is enough. The view is worth it but lots of people everywhere. Make sure to wear sunscreen there isn’t a lot of shade.

Walking

Good walking and scenic driving trail. Has a nice road for families and strollers or wagons too. Restaurants and points of interest nearby. If you are going with smaller children, the rocky edges do not have a secure fence so keep an eye out. Otherwise great way to enjoy the bay and coastline. Otters and whales are often seen from here.

The directions to “Monterey Peninsula Recreational Trail” in google take you six miles north.. This trail should be renamed Lover’s Point trail so it’s easily navigable.

Walking

Beautiful day to hike/walk the Monterey Peninsula Recreational Trail. Right on the ocean so the view is awesome and there are a few places where you can climb on the rocks and get down to the sandy beach. Great views of Point Pinos Lighthouse! Trail is well kept and it wasn't too crowded.

Biked this trail. Highly recommend experiencing it. Area from Cannery Row to Lover’s Point is very popular and congested, making biking difficult. I got off bike and walked it through this area until I got further out on Ocean View road (past Lover’s Point).

Came here on Christmas Day to walk off our breakfast. Views are beautiful and its dog and stroller friendly. Only downside is it gets somewhat busy, but we still had a great time.
