This trail will kick your a—. There are some parts that you can take a break while you walk up and other parts that are so steep. The next day, my calves and quads were sore!

I hiked up to the top and completed the loop clockwise in about 2 hours. I’m a slow hiker and spent some time at the top. The views are awesome and you can see the ocean. The trail is steep and very rocky.

The loop is much harder than the out/back version of this trail for the reason that the trail utilizes an old road as part the way down (or up depending upon which direction you take). The road isn't forgiving to your (knees on the way down) as it is a straight road at a fairly steep and lengthy decline (this is the part of the trail that curves around a large water storage tank and on down the mountain to almost base level) the the trail heads back up the mountain for 0.6 miles to the original trail, completing the loop ( this was daunting to me and I was experiencing knee discomfort here). But your not done yet, there is still less than a mile down the rocky trail that you took up to this point. The view of the valley below is very pretty on the back side of the mountain and much more peaceful with almost no vehicle noise and fewer humans. If i were to do this loop again, I might consider turning to the right at the loop trail to hike up the old road instead of turning left with the crowd (going left is the faster way to the top ).

Good hike. It’s a nice workout and we’ll do it again. Seen a big rattle snake so be aware. No toilet at the trail head. Views are awesome!

Beautiful views and noise of highway 15. Heavy traffic on Sunday morning. Moderate hike not as hard.

It is an ok trail. There are a lot of portions that have loose rock / gravel and some portions that are flat-ish. You can definitely hear the highway from all parts of the trail so if you’re looking for seclusion then this is not your trail. I brought my dog with me and we both got tired on the way up. Overall, 3 stars.

Nice view at the top. Freeway sounds from I-15 prevent a really outdoorsy nature experience. Good hike for conditioning purposes. Decent elevation gain.

Definitely hard if you do the loop. Great training grounds. Cold weather is perfect at sundown in December.

Second time here: my German Shepherd and 11 year old girl made it the 4.5 miles in 2.5 hours. Trail is in good shape, bring lots of water.
