Awesome trail recommend for hikers looking for more of a challenge. Also goes along the pacific crest trail. Met a guy who was coming from MEXICO 300 miles away!

Did this hike with a friend and our dogs from Silverwood Dam to Mojave dam. What a nice hike. Great views, lots of plant life and wild flowers. Abundance of lizards and ground squirrels. There are a few water crossing but nothing difficult. Also crossed paths with several PCT hikers, great to share and hear stories. The one-way trip came in at 9.5 miles. Another section of PCT completed!

The estimated length of this trail is WAY off! Today I went back to hike point to point from Silverwood Dam to Mojave Dam. What a feat!!! (For me.). I measured it at 10 miles one way. There is a water crossing right now and lots of beautiful flowers. The burnt trees provide a strong contrast to the yellow Dendromecon rigida - Bush Poppies. Overall a very great hike!

We only did a short piece of this trail but it was easily the best spot to park for the hike. Start at the Silverwood Dam and park at the Pilot Rock OHV Staging Area. From there you just hike down the road and start on the trail. I may try it point to point with friends by dropping on car at the other end next time.

We were under the impression that the total hike to get to the dam and back was 9.2 miles since that is the way the other trails that we try are, well we walked over 5 miles in one direction and never saw the dam. The scenery is pretty just be prepared to hike a lot more then the 9.2 miles.
