2020Aug09. The trail was fun but i think it should be rated as Easy. Rocky for sure. This is a 2wd trail but maybe it might be a different story if it was raining. Be careful with bikers on the turns, they’ll pop out of nowhere, or pretty much everyone that’s going on opposite direction. Overall great experience.

Awesome trail - did it in 2WD 4Runner, definitely air down your tires 15-18 PSI with good off-road tires to smooth out the drive as it gets pretty rocky about ~5 miles before the summit. Nice little hill climbing area about half-way up! Ran 15psi on 33” Falken Wildpeak AT3Ws on Method rims, super smooth went about 25-30mph just gotta watch out for oncoming trucks. Views were incredible definitely gonna come back!

Did it in a stock Forester on x-mode. Super easy, especially on the way down.

Loved it. Did it in a 2 wheel drive Silverado on 33s. Aired down some and it was a breeze.

This is a fun trail. I have a Subaru Crosstrek and was able to do this trail with no problems. You get some nice views throughout the trail. I came across hikers, motorcycles, and mountain bikers. Looking forward to going back some time soon.

Does anyone know what time they typically close the entrance gate? Or is that kept open all day and night when the trail considered “open”.

Did trail in a stock Land Rover discovery sport some rocks , tight corners, took it slow and easy. Made it to the top with ease. Great views went with my daughter and now every time we look at Mt Santiago we can say we’ve been to the top .

Very fun and somewhat easy trail! I got a 2wd Tacoma and had no issues. Lots of areas to stop and see beautiful views. Just be careful around some corners... lots of bikers.

Beautiful drive up the trail! It dose get rocky on some parts but nothing a good set of tires can’t handle. There is enough turn outs to get around other drivers on the trails.

Best trail I’ve been on hands down for 2WD trucks but still be careful gets very rocky with steep drops on edge of road for miles. Sturdy ground!

Little room for error once you get closer to the peak. Lots of traffic and constant worrying about who is going to come flying around the corner next...

Fun trail but gets a little busy in the middle of the day. Too narrow for two cars side by side but there are areas to pull off to the side to let people past. Nothing too technical, but take it slow around the blind turns. There were quite a few motorcycles that were ripping through too fast. Trail was open on May 24th.

Solid trail. One of my first times taking the truck off road, it’s doable in my truck (2wd 4cyl Toyota Tacoma SR5).

Trail was open on May 16, 2020. Fun drive but nothing faster than ~15 MPH. Some parts are extremely narrow for 2 way traffic. Raptors can fit on the trail but barely.

National forest website https://www.fs.usda.gov/detailfull/cleveland/alerts-notices/?cid=stelprdb5340229 Stated the gate was open and it was! However, upon driving up the gentleman who services the towers drove passed me and told me he was finished and going to lock the gate. So I don't really know the official status.
