Sorry but this trail blows. Did it in July so I'll take some blame for the very hot weather. That being said, talk about no cover at all, steep as can be, no breeze, scraping by bushes on bald ridge trail, and a very steep walk down a fire trail. No thanks. Will never do again. Did this trail in preparation for half dome and it was less than enjoyable. Made me think twice about the distance and elevation of half dome, thankfully it did not sway me (do half dome if you can get a permit!). If you're doing half dome in the summer, definitely don't recommend this trail.

Great loop of three peaks in Mt Diablo State Park. Did this one after/during a storm in March 2017. There were traces of snow down to 2200ft and was snowing off and on all day above 2400ft. I have done portions of this trail in both winter and summer, and taking the ridgeline up seems to be the best route. The fire roads get tiresome, but the ridgeline paths are varied and bushwhacky enough to keep things interesting, with views to boot. The trails are steep, but well worth it, especially on the rare occurrence it snows.
