Great trail although quite steep coming down. Recommend to use poles. I use this trail to Diablo summit.

Perfection! Hard uphill trails but in shade. Choose start direction of Oak Road/ Back Creek Trail, to go home via Deer Flats for an easy descent with unproblematic footing.

Tried this loop on 6/3/2017, ~90 degrees, on a humid / scorching hot day. It's a great challenge, but this was a bit brutal due to the weather condition. Recommended on a cool winter/autumn day.

I've started from the Back Creek trail, and the latter half of this trail was very steep.
