Beautiful, quick hike! Not sure why it’s called Mission Trail, all the signs call it Oak Grove Loop!

Not a good idea to run at night, something big was in the bushes.

I hiked this on December 13, 2019. Trail is well maintained and does not require hiking poles. Shade is minimal. According to the posted signs this is actually called the ‘Oak Grove Trail’ and not the ‘Mission Trail’ as this app calls it. There are a few spots with poison oak so avoid the shrubs with 3-leaf clusters. Although Mission Trails Regional Park is within the city of San Diego you will feel as though you are in the backcountry.

This is part of my regular routine of walking and running. The ability to get away from the city and into nature like this is awesome. Today I even spotted deer crossing the path.

Super easy with informative displays along the way. Great for families with small kiddos. Trail is very wide. Watch out for poison oak... The only thing that was less than ideal was the smell; stagnant water.

Pretty good trail. Not sure I would rate it as a moderate unless you are hiking with small children. Footing could be a problem as there are some rock faces you must traverse and it can be slippery for the inexperienced. Lots of switchbacks and not a lot of shade. Part of the trail (according to the map on AllTrails) is a paved walked paralleling a road. All in all, combined with the Southern Cali hot sun, I got my sweat on and it was worth it.

This is a great beginner trail. Right now since everything is green it is a very peaceful hike. You can park at the visitor center to start. Make sure to pay attention to the gate hours so you do not get locked in. Also this is a combination of sever trails/loops. You could easily make this longer or shorter to fit your needs.

the start to about 1/2 way to the mountain smelled like raw sewage. wasn't to happy about that. loose dogs on the trail thankfully they were nice. overall it was an ok trail.

Mission Trails was a decent day hike. Close to the heart of San Diego, which allows for a quick weekend hiking without alot of travel time. I would recommended it to any Hikers in the SD area.
