The road was closed so we had to park in a small lot about 950 feet from the start or trail then walk on the bike trail to the start of it. It was a nice trail we headed up the dirt trail first since the lake is dried up this time of year. It was nice and cool by the big rocks about half way up the trail. Once at the lake we crossed to the paved trail to get a better look at half dome

A nice enough trail that I'm sure is gorgeous in winter and spring but is rather lackluster in summer.

Nearly dried up besides some small ponds due to the dry season, but still incredible views in all directions. Totally worth a small hike to fill in time.

The hike to vernal and Nevada are hard. If doing it in summer, take lots of water. We had 8 20oz bottles and ran out a little before we got back to the Lower Pines Campground. Put on and take sunscreen with you because there are many spots without shade. ENJOY! It is a beautiful hike.

Easy, straightforward hike - we had a dog so we stuck to the paved bike path ("paws on the pavement!"). Trail goes along a river leading up to lake, but other than that not much besides the lake at the end of the trail. About a quarter-mile or less from the lake, there's a bike rack - decent amount of bikers on the trail. Bathrooms at the lake are open. We saw a few other dogs there too, but they were in the lake (a big no no- help preserve our natural habitats!). Lots of families with kids enjoying the lake on a hot July day. As a bonus, we spotted a young brown bear and a fellow hiker shared that she saw a bobcat earlier too. Parking was limited - expect to have to walk to the trailhead unless you are arriving very early or very late.

More direct route to/from Mirror Lake from shuttle stop. Beautiful scenery but Trail is paved road. Same amount of shade I. And out as rocky road trail option. We used it as tires to return to shuttle. Restrooms two times. Bike racks two times.
