Photos here do not do justice to this trail! fantastic views, very lightly trafficked in the morning (on a Saturday during COVID), and easy parking. It's very easy to miss the entrance. Set your maps to tomales bay oyster company. If you're going north, then turn around at the oyster company and backtrack until the first right you see - it may look like a private entrance but it's not!

Don't make my mistake, which was to head toward the beach before noticing the trailhead marker to my right. The walk on the beach was pretty, and we saw an egret and a heron, but we get a dead end at the estuary and had to turn back. The walk back was trickier in one spot because the tide had come in. Taking the correct trail, which overlooks the beach, would have avoided this.

hiked this on Saturday 6/22/2019 around 7 pm. If you don’t want to get wade through water until your knees you can’t currently do the portion of the trail that goes by the beach, so bear right at the fork at the trail head, and then loop back via the trail that goes back over the bluff, with the bridge on it. Beautiful views, well maintained. It’s fun to also walk the narrow beach though, just bring a towel or wear water shoes or know you need to turn back before you reach the point.
