This is the perfect trail for beginner to intermediate level mountain bikers. The first part of the trail begins at the "Easter Cross" parking lot at the beginning of Upper Bidwell Park. It is for the most part a smooth dirt trail until after Horseshoe Lake, where it becomes more rocky and technical and gains some altitude. About 2-3 miles up the trail it will start to climb a bit more, and near the end of the trail there are some real leg burners and VERY steep short climbs. Turning around and coming back is the best part, with some really fast downhill sections. There are several spots along this trail where you can cut off downhill to the road, so it's a great beginner trail. If it gets too tough, or you get tired, just hop off down to the road and cruise back.
