Park at the Muir Beach parking lot
Gorgeous easy hike mostly through coastal scrub with beautiful cliff views
nice trail, pretty busy, very loose and stony on the way back down
Parking lot is free with pit toilets. Trail is in good shape and well marked. It was really nice in the morning with the marine layer keeping it cool. Views of the coast were amazing. More bikes, dogs and hikers on the costal trail. Great trail.
This was a nice one! The uphill is pretty relentless (though not horribly steep) for the first couple of miles once you get through the beach parking/entrance bridge. Also, I somehow managed to miss a turn when first entering the Green Gulch area and found myself on what looked like a horribly overgrown, dry grass trail (the kind that hides the actual ground so much that you could potentially break an ankle on it). Had to cut under a fence and meet up with the actual trail. With that said, still a nice run and perfect weather!
Beautiful flowers and farm. Sad that the Zen Garden is closed due to COVID. But the weather and air quality was refreshing!
Well-maintained trail with great views of the ocean. We started at Muir Beach parking lot and went to the left for the loop. You go through an organic community farm. The farm was closed due to COVID but hikers were allowed to go through the gates to get to the trail. There are a couple of steep inclines to get up to the top but once you're there the views of the ocean are worth it. Fellow hikers were respectful of physical distancing and almost everyone had a mask. Overall a great hike.
Nice trail with views of Muir Beach, The Pacific Ocean & San Francisco
Great Hike! Started at the Muir Beach parking lot then left to Green Gulch. You will go thru an Organic Farm, please be couteous and close the gates behind you. Well marked signs. The elevation is steady all the way up to Cayote Ridge trail. Then downhill from there back to Muir Beach via Fox trail and will lead you to Costal trail. Have fun and enjoy the view of the Valley (going up) and the ocean (going down).
This trail is a bit steep in places, but accessible to nearly all hikers, even older children. It connects to Pirates Cove and the Tennessee Trail. Lots of wildflowers, lizards, lookout points to both Green Gulch Monastery and organic gardens. Pirates Cove lookout is a great place to stop for a snack..Friendly people and dogs, on and off leash.
Great hike. It was foggy at the start of our hike (what I consider great hiking weather, especially for the 2 mile ascent to Coyote Ridge Trail). But it was still fun and challenging. We did this trail counterclockwise from the Muir Beach parking lot, up the Coastal Fire Trail, then down Middle Green Gulch trail. We arrived at 9am on a Saturday with still plenty of parking. It gets full quickly. Even though the fog obscured the views of the ocean from the top of the Coastal Fire Trail, we still saw lots of wildflowers and pleasant scenery. The hike down the narrow Middle Green Gulch trail was very nice. We were happy to be descending this narrower portion of the trail rather than ascending it. The end of the trail takes you through the Zen Center for nice peaceful walk through their farm.
We went clockwise on a hot day, and the ascent was very hot with no coastal breeze nor shade. The coastal decline was beautiful! Would recommend on cooler days.
