Mesa Peak Trail is a 4.8 mile out and back trail located near Calabasas, California that features beautiful wild flowers. The trail is rated as moderate and offers a number of activity options.
A good engaging hike, a solid moderate. Really pretty overall, go on a mild sunny day so you can take in the ocean views at the top. Wonderful panoramas oceanside.
Starts out as a single track and works into a well maintained fire road about 0.7 miles in. Steady incline the whole way with some nice ocean views. The hike is 5.9 miles if you go all the way to Mesa Peak which is 0.4 miles beyond where the app takes you. My recording goes to the Peak. Will definitely be back. $8 to park on the lot for the day so I suggest parking down the street for free.
Loved this trail! Super scenic the whole way through. Mostly mountains until about halfway and the ocean starts to peek through. Inclines with some flat spots scattered. There’s some bits of shade but mostly exposed. After the first little bit the trail is also super wide and not crowded at all.
It’s got that nice balance of ease and elevation. The trail is as wide as Runyon, there’s nowhere to hide and nowhere to get lost. There’s a nice climb to it but I wouldn’t call this one a moderate. That said, the wife liked it a lot and found it challenging, so it’s a good spot for that beginner/intermediate hiker to meet somewhere in the middle.
Beautiful hike. Pretty steep uphill on the way up, beautiful views of the ocean. Not many people on the trail (went around 9am)
Awesome trail! Closer to 6 miles, and had some steep areas, but definitely worth it for the views!
Beautiful trail... beautiful views of the mountains going up and then a few vista points for the ocean as you get higher. Mostly uphill, a little confusing to find the trail in the beginning but overall great! Very few people on trail. Lovely hike.
Absolutely beautiful the whole way. We went on Sunday about 10am with 50° sunny weather, shadey areas were super cool and treeless areas where very warm. Amazing little hike, would def do again!
Really lovely! Definitely uphill almost the entire way up but the view was worth it! First .5mi was a trail but the rest was a wider fire access road. Went on a holiday Monday morning (MLK day) and it wasn’t busy at all, I could see it being busy on the weekends so not sure how full the parking lot might get.
