This is not so much a trail as a scenic overlook. While it is easy to view the river or the bay from the village of Mendocino or from the headlands (Mendocino Headlands State Park). This short trail allows access to the bluffs south of Big River. The trail leads to a wide flat spot suitable for a picnic or for photos of Mendocino. Like much of the north coast the high bluffs could be hazardous to children.
