This hike offers beautiful views of San Diego. It isn't well marked, so it may require some route finding at points. Make sure to download the map before heading out there! After rains it can be a bit washed out and muddy. In the hot months make sure to bring enough water and sunscreen as there is no shade and it gets very hot there. There are many car break-ins at the trailhead so make sure to not leave anything in your car.

I would really prefer to drive out to the state park versus do this hike. Decided to turn around mid way up since it felt like you were jira hiking in a tundra. Views were good and could see the ocean from mid way up but there are better hikes.

Upon arrival I was doubtful as the mountain top looked pretty lame but embarking this hike was lovely and beautiful. Nice run back down the mountain

Easy start, steady incline and difficulty, mellows out to flat for a bit, good time to regain energy. Then an incline to the summit. plenty of pretty views the whole way up. Only crossed paths with 2 on a Sunday afternoon. Perfect for a little day hike. 2 hours at a casual pace.

Not a bad trail. Lots of dogs off leash, which is fine if you’re aware of the other hikers coming towards you. Trail was pretty easy incline. View was ok but pretty rocky and overgrown at the top. Easy trail to do with dogs and kids. My 9 year old was a trooper

Great trail! Gets your heart rate up going up, but nothing too strenuous. Brought my dogs and there was a nice shady spot up top to relax. Cave is off the trail. Saw very few people and the trailhead was easy to find.

Views on the summit did not disappoint. Used alltrails for directions. No restroom. Parking available for 12-15 vehicles. Rocky but others wearing running shoes did not have a problem. A little scramble to the summit. Incline manageable. Not a lot of hikers on a Saturday morning.

I really enjoyed this hike. Surprisingly, for an unpopular trail the parking lot was full. However, we had plenty of solitude throughout the hike and enjoyed the summit alone. There were some challenging steep areas, but I enjoyed the workout since I use these hikes to help me lose weight and get in shape. I loved the view and look forward to my return visit.

Thank you to Michelle for the flags. Greatly appreciated! 2 hours up and down good to beat the heat in the morning.

This was overall an awesome hike. Make sure you get an early start and take plenty of water. You will not regret finishing this hike (very rewarding). The scenery is not at all redundant and if you make it to the top the 360 view is breathtaking. My husband and I took some pink flags with us to mark the trail for future hikers. Hope this helps! Happy Trails!, Michelle

lots of steep bits on the way, not a very flat walk way for any of it, but it's still a nice hike. Not really suited for running, great views

No shade at all so definitely bring a hat, water, and sunscreen. Also bring bug repellent since there’s a lot of vegetation so there’s more bugs out there than usual.
