Easier hike. About 1,000' elevation gain over just a tad over 4 miles. The trail is well marked and well maintained.

The lake had awesome campsites once we got there. The meat bees where everywhere in camp but if you can look past that Great Lake to hike to and not a lot of traffic when we went. Had the lake to ourselves.

we fished Hobbled in late September. Great place. Great fishing. There used to be b
rooks, now rainbows. Not year around though unless for snowmobiles.

I just went hunting up there and got a nice buck with some friends. Its not at Shaver lake like the site says. its actually at the Courtright reservoir above Wishon. another hour from shaver. But it is very beautiful. good camping fishing hiking hunting 4x4 and all that. Only thing is the res is very low right now. VERY. Might wanna check on that before you go.

Easy to follow trail. Best fishing out of a natural lake I have ever fished. Native rainbows ranging from 7-13 inches. Great camp site on east side of lake.

I did this in mid September 2013. It was a relatively easy hike. Not too long and not too steep. It was the perfect hike for my wife, who had never done this before and was facing a double mastectomy in a few weeks to deal with breast cancer. She did awesome. The scenery was beautiful, especially from the top of Maxson Dome. Hobler Lake is small and there are not too many flat spots for a large group of campers, like we had. But, it is very pretty and memorable for us.
