This trail was an amazing with great views of the ocean as well as multiple beaches. It is strenuous on the way up however it’s worth it for the view. Depending on where you start coming back is a lot easier than the start.

Took a wrong turn from the original trail

We took Matt Davis trail up to the big connection point and came back on Dipsea trail into Stinson beach. Entire length of MD trail is gorgeous. Starting from Stinson you’ll have to go up hill for a bit on multiple switch backs over looking the beach almost all the way to the top. Once at top it’s a cool dip in and out of open sections of grassy fields and thick forest. It was a foggy first half of the day so not being able to see more than 15 feet in front of you in the open sections adds some fun mystery to what’s coming around the turn. You can also make some good connections to cataract falls if you know your way around or have a good map! Great starting point for hiking around Mt Tam!

Beautiful. We started at the top and will do the dip sea trail back up. The ranger recommended that as well. Started in the sunshine and into the fog afterwards. Pretty! Fairly easy if you’re fit.

Great Trail. Clocked 16.7 miles. We used the Matt Davis there and back.

Quick hike with 7 month baby

Loved everything about this trail, took us down to the beach! We parked up at Pantoll and hiked down to Stinson Beach. I highly recommend this way because you’re facing over a mile in stairs if you start at Stinson beach. Once we got down to Stinson, we took Dipsea up to Steep Ravine Trail which took us back to Pantoll. Found two rattlesnakes along the way too. Highly recommend this hike! No doggies though

4th of July hike. Arrived at 8:00 at Pantoll Station and grabbed a parking spot before they were taken. Not too many people on the trail. Done this several times. Really enjoy the different terrain on this trail. 7/4/2019

Little of everything. Went clockwise and glad we did. First mile and a half will burn breakfast but then is fairly even until the walk down starting at the beautiful Stinson beach. Steep ravine with the waterfalls and redwoods was surreal. Highly recommend. About at the limits of what my daughters and nieces (11, 10, 9 & 8) and pregnant wife could do. 7 miles.

Start with Dipsea and end with Matt Davis for a moderate hike that we finished in just under 3 hrs. Beautiful trail, dynamic scenery, not too crowded, super tranquil and the part in the forest feels like you’ve gone back in time. Maybe my favorite hike I’ve done in NorCal. Also the ladder is great.

Great trail with amazing ocean view. I would rate this easy to moderate based on your fitness level. Nothing technical just too many stairs.

This is so awesome. Creeks, water falls, ferns hillside pastures, views. Just awesome

Beautiful views. Easy to hike, we started at Stinson Beach to hike uphill first.

We traveled 3 mi in and back from above Stinson beach. Well travelled but still rustic and narrow in places. Shaded in mixed redwood forest with stream and waterfall plus viewing of the coast from flat rock about a mile into the hike. We encountered many friendly hikers, some on long distance treks from the coastal trail and others just taking an out and back hike like us. Parking is challenging but good payoffs at your choice of cafes along Stinson beach.
