Fantastic trail/ beautiful weather today! Started on Hogback rd. left to the fire station. Then continued on to Matt Davis to Bootjack into the majestic redwoods of Muir Woods. Then headed back up on canopy view trail to lost trail and fern. We veered off course a bit and ended up hiking back onAlice Eastwood fire trail for the last mile. Overall amazing hike!

Great hike and well maintain trail with good signs. Parked at parking lot down the fire house. Total hiking about 8 miles. Lots of steps near Muir Woods. Well shaded, not much water this time of the year, but the vegetation is very green.

The quintessential Mount Tam hike covers south side of the mountain all the way down to Muir Woods. It’s a well maintained Trail nicely manicured path wooden bridges steps lots of magnificent trees. Highly recommended one of the best bangs for the buck you can find. Full loop plus meandering in the woods clocked in at 8.1 miles

HikingClosedOff trail

Canopy View Trail closed from 8/5/19 to 10/15/19 due to Coho Salmon Restoration Project. Detour took me down to Muir Woods Park > Hillside Trail > Bootjack > Matt Davis. Detour route ended up being around 7 miles anyway and the Bootjack and Matt Davis portions are phenomenal. So, great hike aside from the crowds at Muir Woods. Also, crack pipe spotted on Bootjack Trail if you can believe it. See pics.

Hike was amazing! Came across being able to picnic on a rock in front of a mini waterfall from the river that’s near. Aside from all the stairs up hill it was all worth it!

great forest trail down into Muir woods. pay attention to trail markings and gps. We got side tracked a couple miles but worth the detour! pretty moderate especially bc of the length. took about 4hrs with 9ppl @ ~23min/mi.

Multiple terrains and ecosystems on this big loop that goes down into Muir Woods and then back up on the high side of Panorama road. We hiked from the parking lot at Mountain Home, clockwise, It was a terrific morning! We spent some time walking around Muir Woods boardwalk a bit then continued back up Bootjack trail. Lots of trees and waterfalls. Nice!

Beautiful hike, but mislead by AllTrails... this hike is NOT dog friendly. We had to turn around and abort because it was very clear that dogs were not welcome.

This is a great hike after some heavy rains. All the streams on Matt Davis are flowing and the hike down to Muir Woods is extremely lush.
