Parking for this trail is across Gilman Springs Road from the trailhead. Visitors can either cross the road or go under the overpass in the wash. Although dogs are allowed on this trail, bringing them is not advisable as there is a lot of broken glass and trash along the trail. There are two different routes to reach the Massacre Canyon Falls, both of which are difficult and dangerous. The trail shown on this page is the lower route, through the wash. This trail still requires using ropes to go up vertical rocks. The other route is walking on an upper trail clinging to the side of the hill. It is advisable to visit after a good rain, as the waterfall will be flowing.

Park on road near trailhead. Lots of bees. Trickle of water at first waterfall. Interesting hike, can get very hot.

This trail was short but interesting. There are little nooks and crannies where you can stop and chill. We visited a day or 2 after rain and the waterfall was refreshing. It’s a smart idea to have good shoes that grip and some rope when climbing. Pick up your trash...

Hiking on the sand of the river, calm and very good panorama, when you go up the road that takes you towards the high hill.

At a certain point had to stop and return back because I had my dogs with me. Will return back to continue on to what’s ahead(without the pups).
