Half the trail is along the road which makes it not very scenic to walk through. It's ok for a quick stroll.

There is parking at the visiting center. The trail starts next to the bathrooms. Trail is easy to find and there are good views of the lagoon and beach.

Recently did this trail. It was very easy and pretty. We did it around sunset so the view was unforgettable.
I'm not sure if it's always (or it was because of the raining lately) muddy near the end. The end for us was the side of the loop away from the road.

Nice and short. Would be ideal on a sunny day.

I work at the Marin Headlands and do this trail everyday before work. It's a delightful way to start the day. I usually cross the sand to the waterline and walk the surf line to the north end of the beach. There are stairs there to get you back up to the trail and adds about a quarter mile to the loop.
