Unbelievable views. Nice paved path. Slow and steady incline half and back down.

Nice loop in the Marin Headlands. Especially good if you’re looking for a place to be able to park as other trailheads (like Tennessee Valley) tend to fill up on weekends. This entrance is nice as it’s right off the freeway and cars park just on the side of the road.

Great hike with some nice views. Make sure at the top you look for the Sausalito VOR which is used for air traffic control. It looks like something out of the 1967 TV show The Invaders.

Hills, hills, hills (clockwise). Possible for fit kids! On top, there’s the FAA VORTAC beacon SAU (Sausalito) to be admired.

Great Hike, lot’s of up. Pretty at the top. Didn’t realize the entire thing wasn’t dog friendly. Not many people.

GREAT QUICK HIKE THAT PROVIDES A GOOD WORKOUT WITH AMAZING VIEWS! We started in maricello trailhead and it was uphill for about 45 minutes. It was tough but totally worth it! We were the only hikers on the trail and had a private picnic at the top with beautiful views of the city, ocean and the bay. The last part of the trail was completely down hill and a good cool-down.

Trail not clearly marked so beware. We took Miwok first and first 1/2 hour is uphill climb. Reach top one sign stating "Old Springs Trail". Go to the right and another sign "Miwok Trail". Dont take this trail just keep going. You wont know what trail your on because its not marked but you are actually on Old Springs Trail. At bottom another sign states "Tennessee Valley Trailhead/Old Springs" this is actually trail to Marincello Trail on the AllTrails map. Take this trail and you will follow until you see Horse Ranch. Then youre done! Alltrails map not very acurrate so just follow your instinct. Gorgeous hike, tons of flowers, views second portion, wildlife (deer, snakes! birds). LOVED it.

This was a great hike. Spectacular views and we were greeted by horses at the end of the trail. Saw a snake and a black beetle too.

This route has become my go to loop for a brisk short trail run. Start the climb up Marincello. It's hardy but not grueling, wide and even footing, more like a fire road. Once at the top there are stunning views of San Francisco skyline above the hills and around another bend you'll see the ocean. Then it's all downhill on the way back to the stables at Tennessee Valley. Some steep downhill with some loose rocky bits so watch your footing. Be aware of mountain bikers. Step aside if horses approach. Watch for occasional raptors and little brown bunnies, wild flowers in spring.
