Wasn’t the best, but a great work out. Even when there’s a bear sighting warning posted at the start of the trailhead.

Nice trail, all up hill tho. Decent views. Last 1/4 miles still has snow drifts.

Great hike. Abundant shade. All the work is front loaded in the first mile or so. Ends in a great canyon head with water everywhere. Last 1/4 mile has snow as of today. Limited parking at trailhead but low volume of folks nevertheless. Even on July 4th.

I unfortunately didn’t get to finish the hike because it’s completely covered in snow. Whoever claimed this was a “stroll through the woods” must have had a double scoop of preworkout, because this was not a stroll by any means. Perhaps walking though some snow before the full snow cut off was more difficult then the trail without snow. Nevertheless this was a cool find and hike through the woods

A great forest hike through the pines of Lassen. The trail weaves through the woods and crosses streams. I was hoping that the apex of the trail would yield great views and a nice spot for lunch. However, the trails just sort of ends into a meadow. (Though the meadow is quite beautiful.) A great hike if you're looking to be amongst nature, though other trails in the park have much better views of Lassen and the surrounding area. (Hike was done in August 2017)

July 8, 2017 Manzanita Creek trail is a very easy stroll through the woods (should not be rated moderate). There really isn't any great views along the way, and I was very disappointed with the end destination. A nice view of one of the peaks from the bottom of it, but no areas to sit. The trail just ends in the middle of the woods. I did not really notice a meadow since everything was overgrown. Because we were disappointed we continued past the creek and climbed up as far as we could. Once higher up we enjoyed a much better view of the landscape, but without this added adventure the trail is pretty uneventful. If you're looking for a nice 7 mile easy walk then go for it. If you are more of a thrill seeker and want a great view, hike Chaos Crags (Crags Lake) trail. The trailhead is very close to the beginning of this trail and there's a significantly better view at the end (it's also shorter and more moderate).

A nice, moderate hike through the pines, near Manzanita Creek (which you cross once over a culvert), with a pretty meadow at the end. Great views of Chaos Crags and Loomis Peak

Excellent trip! Be sure to check out the Cinder Cone volcano on the other side of the park. Spectacular views and a challenging hike but definitely worth it!
