No Dogs. this is a protected beach so that information needs to be updated. This is my backyard, a beautiful long and open coastline that is almost always vacant. A view of the Point Arena Lighthouse and plenty to play with. NOT a place to get in the water though, aside from it being freezing cold it has very dangerous undertow and rip currents.
We love this trail. We use the trail on Highway 1 and walk the 2.5 (ish) mile loop regularly. We love to take our kids to play in the grove of trees past the red abandoned house. The view is incredible and it is an easy hike. It’s easy to walk down to the beach if you prefer and far enough away from the bluffs for it to be a safe hike.
The trail info needs to be updated. No dogs are allowed at beach at Kinney Road entrance. Dogs allowed on leash at Stoneboro Road entrance. Although it was only 70 degrees today, the sand dune were very hot. So much so that our Border Collie has to be carried most of the way as it was burning his paws and our feet wearing flip flops. Beach was great and practically empty except for us, two fishermen and a jogger.
