NOTE: Due to recent storms, there is a bridge out and the MASH site is inaccessible from the Malibu Creek State Park trailhead. For more info, please see http://www.parks.ca.gov/?page_id=614 Additionally, you are NOT able to access the lake using this trail. Malibu Creek State Park is a sprawling 10,000 acre park that protects 25-mile long Malibu Creek, the largest watershed in the Santa Monica Mountains. The creek itself is somewhat unusual in that it has cut a path through hard volcanic rock instead of the softer sedimentary rocks north of the Goat Buttes, which makes for some spectacular scenery during any time of the year. More than 30 miles of trails and fire roads are available throughout the park for hikers, mountain bikers, and equestrians. There are also a few areas to swim and fish, and many rock climbers also practice their craft here. The area used to be a country club, and some of the buildings and landscaping from that era remains to this day - including the Visitor Center and Century Lake - originally built as a recreational lake and now a unique freshwater marsh that provides a stop-over for migratory birds in the winter. The park has also been home to filmmakers over the years. Movies like "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid," "The Planet of the Apes," and the television show "M*A*S*H" were all shot here - and several setpieces from M*A*S*H are still here. This route follows the namesake of the park as it meanders through several areas of spectacular scenery. This is an outstanding example of Southern California terrain that's definitely not to be missed.

Nice hike with some good views along the way. Ending is not so great cause they fence off the actual lake. Last rain washed out one of the crossings so you have to walk a little farther down but it’s easy enough to get across.

Good fast paced hike. Walk down to see damn on way to MASH set. The bridge is out, but walk 50 ft past it and a large tree fell and makes for easy crossing at that point. Definitely go up to helipad at the MASH set location. The "goodbye" is still there in Stones from the final episode. There are trails behind it that tale you higher amd further back.

Fast moving hike, fun, quick with lots of little side trails. The bridge is out. Walk 60 feet past and there is a large fallen tree across the creek. There is easy crossing there. Recommend climbing up to the helipad at the MASH site. The "Goodbye" is still there in stone. There are trails behind it that take you to higher level with great views.

very good starter hike, not to much elevation gain, wide trails to avoid any animals, and nice even surface. stroller friendly and has shade for 3rd of the hike.

There’s street parking off Mulholland Dr. Or pay by the hour or $12 all day. There’s a lot of shade. The bridge to the MASH site is accessible. The water that people jump is is about 4-5ft. I saw a lot of people jumping off the rocks. I took my 7yr old. I’d come back.

Fun easy hike, not much of an incline at all. Shaded along the way. Bridge was washed out but easily found another path across

Easy hike, but offers very little shade. I would suggest you do this hike before 9am in the summer time.

I love this trail, first time was in January and the bridge was still there so you could make it to the MASH site, the spring rains washed out the bridge unfortunately and currently the only way across is on a trunk which we avoided. Overall enjoyed this trail, and I hope they fix the bridge soon.
