Wonderful HARD hike. Two of us in good shape (I had just completed the 16.6 mile Grand Canyon rim-to-river-to-rim in a day, for reference) took 7.5 hours to go up and down, granted with diversions from the trail and many breaks. It is, indeed, only 7.5 miles for the main hike. The lake photos you see are if you decide to go off-trail and take the extra 1.5 mile or so to get to them. There is lots of green and running streams that is not apparent in all the summit pictures. The final ascent is a scramble which is also FUN but requires some sure-footedness. Strongly recommend; would do again.

Perfect conditions. No snow on trail and no bugs. T-shirt weather the whole way up. 4.5 hours total (including breaks). About 2 up and 2 down. ~7.5 miles car-summit-car. Get it before winter comes!

Hiked Pyramid Peak for the first time on Oct. 1, which also happens to be my birthday! We lucked out and had the trail and summit almost entirely to ourselves. We only encountered one other hiker who summited a few minutes after we did. The snow from the weekend made the rock scramble at the top a little more of an adventure, but the views were well worth the work. With snow on the trail I would definitely recommend taking GPA/map tracks to stay on the route. Overall, the hike was pretty strenuous, but not as hard as I expected.

Did in about 3 hours scrambling/trail running. Great view from the top of Lake Tahoe and a few of the smaller mountain lakes.

Great hike! “Leg day” for sure. The trailhead maybe hard to spot as it’s a single track right across the freeway from the parking spot. It’s all uphill from here. The map on the app helps and when in doubt as to where the trail is always stop and look at your map and look for those blessed trail cairns. The scramble to the top is just that. It’s always windy and wind breaks provide shelter. Views for days! Totally worth it now go ahead and add it to your list-

Car to car, solo, 4 hours with a lunch break. Steep and demanding at first, the middle is very scenic and much more moderate, enjoy it! The last section, when the trees start to thin; is equally as demanding as the first part, but not harder. Take care to stay on the highest point of the ridge for the easiest summit line.

Trail head is across the road and down from the small area where you park. Parking is where the stop light is for chains in the winter. Look for the Cairns. Cold at the start and hot on the way down. Seriously tough uphill but it is a pretty well marked trail. Equally tough down hill. This should not be a first time hike but an average hiker can do it. It took us 3:45 to the top. Probably would have been 3:30 without stops. And 3:30 down. Plan for bouldering the last half mile. My husband and brother in law loved the bouldering and it is a nice change up. Not my favorite. Start early. Views are incredible!

Great hike. Very steep first and last part. Took 2:45 to get to the top, 2:30 down.. No more mosquitoes (late summer 8/27). Brought only 2L of water. Mistake. Needed one more liter. Easy to follow.

Hiked this 8/25/19. My first “Peak” ever. Goes from steep to very steep to steep all the way up... RockPile was a fun scramble. Bugs weren’t to bad. Water and snow on the trail. Watch for cairns to find the trail. 1000s of butterflies at the top. Took me about 4hrs up 2hrs down.

I ended up hiking up to the falls and climbing up boulders then going to the northern side but turned back due to sheer granite faces. I went back around to the eastern approach scramble. it ended up taking me 9 hours to summit. i was a mile or two from the parking lot but it grew dark while attempting a slot canyon downclimb shortcut. unfortunately the drop at the bottom prevented the shortened exit. I slept on granite in the slot. I must have done 20 miles of exploring. Brutal but worth it. Amazing views and extremely rugged terrain.

The trail is steep dirt most of the way, and transitions into a rocky scramble to the summit. The hike is not extremely difficult, but it's steep and sketchy, especially on the way down. The views from the summit are beyond stunning and will make you forget the rocks and the mosquitoes. It's a good summer hike because it's far colder at higher elevations and there is plenty of snow and water around.

This hike was very hard. I like to think of myself as fairly in shape and I hike quite often, this trail was still a challenge, although rewarding! You’re hiking up a mountain, so you shouldn’t be surprised that it’s going to be uphill and you’re going to be gaining quite a bit of elevation in a relatively short amount of time. There are skeeters out right now, so be warned! The scramble to the very top took longer than we were expecting, so be sure to allow for enough time to get up and down that section of the trail. Overall, very nice and a great workout! Lovely views!
