The Lola Montez Lakes are very nice.   The trail to the lower one is well marked, and alternates sections of single-track and dirt road; the trail is also part of the "hole-in-the-ground" mountain bike trail.  At the beginning of the hike you have to ford a torrent; this is easy to do in late season, but may be dangerous, impossible, or both in early season.  The trail from the Lower to the Upper Lola Montez lakes is indicated by cairns, and it requires some cross-country hiking ability. The trip includes detours which you do not need to take.
