Lover's Loop via Grass Mountain Trail is a 4.1 mile moderately trafficked loop trail located near Santa Ynez, California that features beautiful wild flowers and is rated as moderate. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, running, and nature trips. Dogs are also able to use this trail.
This is a wonderful, diverse trail recommended for anybody who wants a 2-hour outing. It's perfect for running with lots of gradual ups and downs. There are both sunny or shady sections depending on where you are on the mountain.
Really enjoyed this hike. The trail was nice and not rocky. We went clockwise which seemed to make more sense to us since you had the cool, shady oak grove near the creek to keep you cool going uphill, and the views going downhill. My phone recorded 4.5 miles, but we did get slightly off track once. Will definitely do this one again.
This is a Great little trail that is everything it is set out to be—beautiful views, nice landscape, easy incline. My only two criticisms are that 1) there are roads nearby on the first half of the hike, so every time you feel like you’ve gotten out of town you see a car, (this could also be due to a lack of foliage, as it is 1 January!)and 2) as someone said earlier, the trail does get confusing by the riverbed (at 3.4 mile mark) but I am pretty sure that even though it looks like there are different paths, they all ultimately join together. When you hit the river, cross it, or continue on a bit and then cross it. Keep the river on your left. I took the higher trail, but again, I think the lower trail would put you in the same spot. Now that I’ve been once I will go again many times, as I’m often in town for weekend breaks from the city. I wish the loop was longer, but I’ll just have to find other trails on here to satisfy those long hike needs. Kids can do this trail fine, and even though there weren’t many people out (I saw no more than 5 groups) I saw one guy in flip flops. There is a downed tree with barbed wire to look out for if you have dogs.
Awesome trial! We completed this in just under two hours. Small river crossings, no fees to hike and ample parking spots! We went during winter, so maybe not as green as some of the other photos. Lots of friendly people out and about, too! There was one spot where a tree had fallen onto the trail, causing us to have to hike over a barbed-wire fence that the tree also conveniently took down. Trekking poles helped a lot!
wonderful, diverse trail reccomended for anybody who wants a 2 hour outing. perfect for running, lots of gradual ups and downs. both sunny or shady depending where you are on the mountain, 50/50
Fantastic fall hike with a lot of changes in the landscape and golden foliage. Only confusing part of the trail for us was where it crosses the creekbed around mile 3-ish. It looks like the trails bends back in a u-turn but it actually continues on the other side of the creek to the right. Other than that, pretty straightforward. Definitely would return! Especially in the spring when it’s green.
Great hike. Headed left on the trail. Follow “Hikers” sign which looks like private property but it the trail. We took a mild detour around it thinking we were not supposed to enter there. Saw some other hikers and horses along our way. No water in December but I’m sure the creek is beautiful during other seasons. Would do again!
A little overgrown in some areas. A tick got on our dog in the beginning wide open area right next to the entrance-beware of ticks!
Perfect for a short Sunday hike. Narrow trail with wonderful view of the surrounding area. Will return
Fairly easy trail compared to everything else near Figueroa, especially compared to Grass Mountain and Zaca Peak, but it was still very scenic and dog friendly. The temp got to about 80°, but there was some nice partial shade. Now that it is so dry, the only water left was a little pool near the beginning, though we didn't need a ton because the hike is relatively short/easy. This would be a good trail running trail even with multiple trees that have fallen onto the trail. Besides that, the trail is in excellent shape and not overgrown in the least. On IG as @picbynathan
Most beautiful run I've done , perfect lengths and scenes of landscapes are breathtaking
Really enjoyed this hike. Nice to change the scenery a bit from the front country hikes. A little overgrown in some places but not too bad. Will be nice to see in Spring when everything is green. Saw some complaints about signage in the reviews, it's actually pretty easy to follow the trail. Just use the AllTrails map when the trail splits if you're not sure.
