- I was grateful we chose to go UP the grade, to your right from the parking lot, which meant we went DOWN the goat hill section.
- partial shade when you are down in the canyon
- lots of lizards, some wildflowers, some birds, thankfully no snakes!
- very few other folks out
- flat canyon-top 1.5-ish mile segment of the trail that backs up to the parking lots of tech offices
- although dogs are allowed, this trail is very narrow in parts, and the volume of plants with burrs and “stickers” would have me leave mine at home for this one.
- view includes houses and businesses- about 1/6 of it you feel totally “in nature”
- I echo what others have written- most photos shown (another user’s) are NOT from this trail- they are from Los Penasquitos Canyon trail.

Warning. This trail has a tick infestation. Had to take many of them off my dog.

If you are looking for the bridge shown in one of the pictures someone posted, you will not find it at Los Penasquitos on the Lopez trail. I recommend following the trail on left under the road to the waterfall rather than follow the Lopez trail. The Lopez trail is narrow, overgrown, and leads to a Rocky River bed and no trail. You could charge on over the rocks to somewhere? IDK?? I stopped at the street overpass bridge about 2.3 miles in and turned around and went to the waterfall. Bring lots of water. I saw someone get life flighted for dehydration near the falls.
