The Live Oak Trail is located in O'Neil Regional Park so be prepared to pay $3.00 on week days and $5.00 on week ends to get in to the park. Once you pay at the ranger station, veer right and go straight to the end of the road and find plentiful parking at the very end. Both the Edna Spalding and Live Oak Trails are inside the chain link gate. The 4.4 mile loop consists of combining the Live Oak Trail to Vista Trail and taking the Hoffman Homestead Trail back to Live Oak. Be sure to pick up a trail map with your paid admission to the park. Over all the hike was pleasant with some good views up on Vista and Live Oak trails. Visit OC for additional info.

Great local trail. Not crowded at all considering we went on a weekend and compared to nearby trails.

Pretty nice trail. I went the other way so steep way up, nice and easy down. I usually hike alone so seeing the mountain lion country sign did make me a little nervous.

This is a fun local trail!! Lots of wildflowers, birds and lizards! There is a nice little pond near Vista Trail with a single little mallard duck!! Only saw one hiker and one biker on a Tuesday! Great weather and occasional shade made this a perfect hike!! I rated this a 4-star only because there is a portion that travels next to the road. Minimal traffic so not terrible!! Would definitely recommend this hike!

This is a nice trail with a few cardio hills. Shade along Hoffman and the Live Oak trail to finish the hike. Nice views and all the way to the ocean on a clear day. I would recommend this trail.

Had a great time with my daughters. Nice mix of vistas, inclines and trees.
