Little Mountain is accessible from Ohair Park in Novato. It is the highest point in the "bowl" of Novato and offers views of most of town. There are clear views to the north to Mt Burdell, west to peaks on Point Reyes, south to Big Rock Ridge and east to the Bay and Mt Diablo.

Good short tough little hike to the top. We were fortunate to have some cloud cover because it would’ve been a lot meaner in the sun. Great and varied views of Novato along the trail and at the summit. The dirt trail was steep and we didn’t want to go back down the way we came, so we kept going after reaching the Little Mountain summit. The trail continued to the next hilltop (with power poles) and had more great views, this time Indian Valley Golf Club and Stafford lake. We kept going down a clearly defined access road that took us to Novato Boulevard. On the way down, you have to skirt a fenced-off water tank and through a bit of poison oak, but it’s manageable. You then walk Novato Boulevard and some trails behind the dog park and back to O’Hair park. Instead of the 2.4 out and back, we did a 5-mile loop. It was excellent.

This is one my favorite, and most challenging, "lunch hikes" in Novato. It starts off in the shade along a couple switchbacks up a gentle grade. Once you're out of the forest, an immediate right starts the stair stepper up to the top. There are a couple flat rest spots along the way. The views at the top are some of the best in Novato.
