The summit of this hike offers an amazing view of the Silliman Crest and the Great Western Divide. Located 1.5 miles south of Dorst Campground, the Little Baldy trailhead is marked by a large sign on the east side of the road. After two switchbacks, you are guided through a quiet forest before the trail opens up onto the top of an open granite dome.
A difficult hike going in, but the views were beautiful! very rocky during the switchbacks, making the uphill trek challenging. Took 2 hrs up & 50 mins down . For those of us "mature "hikers, I recommend hiking poles. Interesting hike in that there were many many Dogwoods down low, and many many fir trees up high. Not as many Sequioas, but a few. Great views at the top, however it was hazy due to scheduled burns during my Oct 2019 trip.
Absolutely beautiful.

Started around 5pm and got to the top by 6:30 to catch the sunset. Not a single person here besides us. Great views on a clear day. Trail is well groomed and a gradual climb most of the way that made for an enjoyable climb. Rocky in some spots, so watch the ankles. Highly recommended for a sunset hike.

A shorter day hike that was definitely worth it at the top. There were few cars at the trailhead, and we didn’t see many people on the trail. The trail was in good condition the entire way. We made it to the top in a little over an hour. There was a great view of the surrounding mountains. We would definitely do this again if we need a nice day hike in Sequoia.
Decent! Nice views most of the way and a nice short hike. Took my toddler up there with caution at the top.
great view and very few other hikers... we were all alone at the top
My friend & I did this in July 2019, after a park ranger suggested this for a sunset hike. This is a must-do hike! The view and the vegetation changes as you go up My favorite was the field of christmas trees along the way. Bring something to keep you warm up the summit if you decide to do this for sunset or the colder months as the summit is bear and is just rock. Also, a torch or headlamp is advisable for sunset hiking as it may grow darker on your way down.
Holy cow! This is a must do hike while you’re in the area. The views at the top were absolutely stunning. This was a bit more difficult than I had initially thought it would be, but I’d still rate it as moderate. We saw some marmots and butterflies on the way ups which made it even better. I believe we saw less than 10 other people doing the trail as we were there in the late afternoon. Great trail and definitely worth your time!
Excellent trail, I have done it twice now and am still amazed at the awesome view. It is scenic throughout and took us a little under an hour to make it to the peak and about 35 min to head down. Well worth it!!
great easy to medium hike! always great views. There was a bit of snow but no chains or snowshoes or crampons or micro spikes needed. hiked 6/15/19
I hike a lot, and this was a super cool hike up to an amazing vista. It’s a must do!! Glistening granite, snow that’s very easy to deal with, and the vista was just perfect!!
Great trail. Lots of fallen trees you will need to get over or around. Snowy at the top, which made finding the trail difficult at times. The view from the top is nice.
My wife and I completed this trail on June 4th. Better view than Moro rock without the crowds. First mile had some parts where the trail was covered with snow on a steep slope and there was lots of snow up from mile 2 to 3 but the trail is not as steep at that point. We saw Grouse (listen for the low pitched sound), marmots, chipmunks and an incredible view. . As reported by others, make sure you keep going until you have a 360 degree view, Trail is a across the street from the parking. Wooden sign is visible, go up and to the left to find trail.
Attempted this yesterday. Trail is half under snow (trailhead totally hidden, just over the snow past the parking on the right coming from general sherman) was hard to track the trail with limited prints and lots of snow. Not sure spikes would have saved this. Probably much more doable in a couple weeks.
12/22/18 Beautiful views and wonderful weather. There's snow on the trail but not enough for snowshoes. I had yaktraks for the way down but others in the group didn't and handled the hike just fine with they're hiking shoes.
Little Baldy sign on the left side of the road. Trail is on the right where you pull over to park!
Very good short trail, it is moderately trafficked in the mornings, very well defined and kept up.Trail is a steady easy climb until you finish the last switch backs then levels outs as you cross the saddle between the two mountain tops. On this level part of the trail, you will be passing through a very young forset, The tree are very short. Here you are the giant of the forest as you are taller than the trees. The views you see walking up the trail are fantastic, but what you see from the top is awesome. The very last part of the trail to the top is the hardest and the steepest. It is short, but very steep. You must keep going even if you need to take extra breaks. No matter how long it takes, it is well worth it. Very nice way to spend a morning.
Loved this quick hike! Nice views especially at the top! I would rate it as moderate but not difficult at all.
A great hike, easy enough for kids to enjoy the pleasure of climbing, best view on the top, animals on trail.
My favorite hike in Sequoia - if you like climbs and views from above this is the hike for you. Looks easy but don’t be fooled, high elevation climb during this short hike. *Don’t forget bear spray
quick and easy hike. the scenery throughout the entire hike is breath taking. the view at the top is fantastic. i went around 4 pm and there was no one on the trail which was pleasant and extremely enjoyable. not to alarm you but there are quite a few switchbacks.
A great little "off-the-beaten-path" hike, perfect for when you have half an afternoon free. The sign at the trailhead says that it should take between 2 and 3 hours, but I think an hour and a half is just about enough. The views from the top are absolutely worth the effort.
Up and down before noon, strong sun at concluding rock, but hat was enough. Great view at top, and enough space to lay out and enjoy (unlike Moro). Very light traffic. Saw deer, marmot, butterflies, and lots of bees. Only a bit into moderate difficulty with 10mo in backpack and 8+6yrs. Trail marker off road a bit, but easy to see Little Baldy Saddle sign from road.
Great hike with lots of shaded areas. Saw two deer, a very friendly marmot, and a grouse hen with her chicks. The hike itself is between easy and moderate depending on your fitness level. As other people have said, there are 2 massive granite domes towards the end of the hike. Don’t be fooled and stop at the first slab. Keep on hiking to reach the real Little Baldy. The view is worth the extra elevation.
Breathtaking peak! shaded for the most part. We hiked this trail with our 9 yo and 13 yo, they were beat but loved reaching the peak. Spotted a deer on the path and a couple of mormats. Beautiful wildflowers throughout the trail.
Awesome trail with amazing views at the end! Highly recommend it!
Stunning views. This is an enjoyable challenge in terms of difficulty. Watch out for wildlife on the trail.
Everything Stacy said- she was right on and I couldn’t say it any better. Quick and easy hike with maximum payoff. Absolutely worth the effort as the views are simply stunning!
