This trail is hot in direct sunlight during a day that will be over 80 degrees. Suggest going before 8am or after 6 during summer. Will get shade in afternoon because the trail faces west most of the time. Great challenge on a bike if you want to build endurance.

Started from a closer side to me spot for 2 normal cars to park. Definitely more like 7.2 miles than 6.8. Never a fan of going down then up but that’s what this is

Saw rattle snake at the end of the 0.5mile offshoot, just before the property fence.

If you start from the top the drive up might be challenging for some. As others have mentioned the start of the hike opens up to some beautiful views of silicon valley! Easy trail wide enough for a vehicle with no shade except near the top. My Apple Watch recorded almost 1400ft and a bit over 7 mile. I personally would label the hike as moderate since the elevation gain is more gradual.

Beautiful hike with views practically the entire way. Worth adding the loma vista trail spur to the out-and-back

Beautiful views! Trail is a bit rocky.

Used the Aquinas Trail in reverse from Sheldon Road to access Lexington Vista Serenity Trail portion. Skipped the Montevina section. Shortened the hike and put the climb at the start. No parking on Sheldon Road so need to find spot on Overlook or below. Unexpectedly saw a banana slug on the Serenity Trail/road today, August 6, in the chaparral? Not a redwood or drop of rain in sight? First time spotted a banana slug outside the redwoods? (See photo)

The view walking out was great. Parking is very limited.

Great views during the entire hike of San Jose all the way up to Oakland in certain areas. The end looks over the mountains and is a good place for lunch, but it’s all up hill back to parking.

This is a good hike by Aquinas & Serenity trails from Montevina Road trail head to Lexington Reservoir vista point. Admittedly, not the best of vista points, this hike still is a fine one to undertake in fall or spring seasons. Detailed Blog: https://www.kanvz.com/suresh/canvas/1503609657525
