The trail leading up to Skull Rock is overgrown quite a bit, after that it’s wide open fire road sunny good times. Decent hikes mediocre views for the palisades. Would do again, saw 10 people the entire 9 miles

Hit this trail early to avoid blistering heat. Very few breeze ways after skull rock. Also decided to loop to the right in the last bit and ran into a decent sized rattler. This side is definitely less trafficked so makes sense. He was curled up against the rock in the shade and gave me a great warning- be very aware.

Didn’t get to finish because friend forgot to bring water. It has a great view though. The trail head was a little difficult to find, but overall the hike was nice

I went on a Saturday afternoon/evening and it was quite crowded. I appreciated the biodiversity and rock formations. Wear long pants if you don’t like tall grass.

Nice training trail with basically a straight up and down route. As expected overgrown so long pants and even sleeves would prevent brush rubbing on your skin. Great views and cool breeze in many spots. I opted to check out the waterfall which is pretty low right now but a nice little siesta spot.

Fun trail overall with great ocean views! Beginning part is pretty overgrown, but manageable. Some steep sections and a nice mix of shade and sunshine.

Bottom part of the trail is partially shaded and a bit overgrown. The trail is pretty narrow (make sure to bring a mask since you can’t keep social distance) for most of the bottom section, but it opens up to a fire road up at the top that is much wider

The loop is beautiful with ocean and canyon views. Above misty clouds. Short detour to jungle waterfall. Saw an owl on the ridge section. Interesting boulders with caves. Lots of flowers. Will def do again.

This is definitely not hard I’d say easy to moderate . Beautiful views but the ocean view we came for around 9:30 am was covered by fog /smog . The main thing I didn’t like was the trail was narrow and on both sides were overgrown weeds / flowers FULL of bees and flies . I’m not a huge fan of bees at all lol . However this was a pretty decent workout and there is plenty of opportunity to extend the trail and go way further . I didn’t get a chance to go down to the waterfall at all I’m sure that would have improved my experience .

Great hike. Lots of flowers going at the moment and not too much overgrowth except in a couple places. Nice steady uphill.

Go early. By 11 there were way too many people without masks on the trail. But early— great!

Started at temescal gateway trailhead and took it all the way up, just past the trail on the map to do the little hill at the end. The wildflowers were too beautiful to pass up. There’s a little bit of a scramble up and down on the ridge behind the tower but there’s a detour if you want to avoid it. Took the waterfall route on the way down bc there’s more shade. About 8 miles total, brutal in the heat. Not really difficult and not much elevation gain but the bald sun makes it a major slog. Huge coyote scat, and rattlers on the trail today. Somewhat busy for a Friday so you won’t be alone but be vigilant. Also: not all hikers were wearing masks or making way for each other; I encourage everyone to be respectful and bring face coverings, and wear them when you see folks, and make room for others to pass. And pls don’t toss your masks into the flowers. :) it was so nice to see everyone out, getting exercise and enjoying the explosion of wildflower blooms.

Love this trail. Took a dip down to the falls - so beautiful down there. Went in counterclockwise, stocking with all right turns and taking all right forks- super easy to follow and so beautiful.

Beautiful trail with breathtaking views. A little narrow in some parts but not too difficult. Especially beautiful this time of year due to recent rain. A lot of green and spring flowers. Color everywhere.

Good hike apart from the last 200m to the turnaround point. Seems completely arbitrary, you actually drop from the higher ground and therefore don’t have the best views. If you do, do it as prescribed, I would recommend taking the track on the right for about 100m to gain the high ground again. A much better place to have a minute, lunch, etc.

Beautiful views. Liked the loop portion the best. there are many overgrown areas so must wear pants. Lots of bugs. Think it's a bit overrated.

Great trail, beautiful views. Gradual elevation. Challenging at parts but overall a fun family hike and a great place to bring in visitors interested in hiking.
