This hike on Annadel State Park's Lawndale Trail explores the park's remote southern backcountry. The trail climbs through dense forest and extensive second-growth redwood groves before arriving at the interesting Ledson Marsh area, where solitude and wildlife are abundant.

My Alltrails app clocked this as 7.6 miles, without our going as far around the marsh as this track shows, so note that it is a longer trail. This time of year it can be hot, but we picked a cooler day. Lots of shade after the first half mile, but when you get to the top and head down towards the marsh, it is very exposed and hot. And much harder to walk on at the top, lots of broken rock. We should have turned back once we got to the top. Lots of mountain bike activity, but it wasn't a hindrance. A good selection of late season wildflowers, worth the trip

Rain on Memorial Day??? Trail is great shape. 10 miles great for our group of 11 people. Too much for the 10 year old.

Beautiful. Moderate climb, the marsh at the end is gorgeous. Combination of burnt, new, and existing plant life. Rocky paths, not many people out there, occasional mountain bikers.

This trail is just down the street from my house. At this writing the trail is open an cleared but there is a great deal of evidence of the October wildfires. The park suffered a great deal of burn but is open and clear. The level is probably difficult with large rocks and roots in some places. Lots of hikers, mountain bikes and runners but it’s never too crowded.

I have a lot left to explore in Anadel, but this was my favorite trail so far. We went on a Sunday in the summer but only encountered two people on the trail. There's a nice moderate climb at the beginning of the hike but not too taxing. Lovely views and lots of shade through the woods. At the end of the loop is a beautiful meadow with a picnic bench great for a lunch stop. Would definitely do it again for a relaxing evening hike.

The various forests are just beautiful. You get a little bit of everything. A little climb at the beginning but pretty even throughout. Lots of flowers and herbs and things to see. Love it!! If you continue on Pig Flat to Schultz which leads to the road, then you can do a loop which is just under 7 miles. 1 mile of road....
