This hike on Annadel State Park's Lawndale Trail explores the park's remote southern backcountry. The trail climbs through dense forest and extensive second-growth redwood groves before arriving at the interesting Ledson Marsh area, where solitude and wildlife are abundant.

I have a lot left to explore in Anadel, but this was my favorite trail so far. We went on a Sunday in the summer but only encountered two people on the trail. There's a nice moderate climb at the beginning of the hike but not too taxing. Lovely views and lots of shade through the woods. At the end of the loop is a beautiful meadow with a picnic bench great for a lunch stop. Would definitely do it again for a relaxing evening hike.

The various forests are just beautiful. You get a little bit of everything. A little climb at the beginning but pretty even throughout. Lots of flowers and herbs and things to see. Love it!! If you continue on Pig Flat to Schultz which leads to the road, then you can do a loop which is just under 7 miles. 1 mile of road....
