Lands End Trail explores the historic Sutro Baths and offers brilliant view of the Pacific. A must see for any visitor to San Francisco. Lands End is the wildest, rockiest corner of San Francisco, a corner strewn with shipwrecks and a history of landslides. At the tip of Lands End is Point Lobos, named by the Spanish for its many lobos marinos (sea wolves), as the barks of those sea lions, as they are called today, drifted up from the rocks below. The sea lions have since relocated to the calmer waters of San Francisco Bay. Trails at Lands End offer a cliff-top walk through dark cypress and open grass and 30-mile views up and down the California coast. The craggy headlands that border the Golden Gate have always challenged developers. The rocky exposed bluffs, often windswept and cloaked in fog, have hampered attempts to tame this corner of San Francisco. Despite the terrain, this section of the Coastal Trail was once a railroad bed, and the adjacent street, El Camino del Mark, once extended through Lands End. The two roads led to the Cliff House, Sutro Baths and Ocean Beach. Landslides eventually closed both routes.

Love this location. Recently visited on Black Friday as a great day to avoid the crowds. It was less crowded than normal and we found a parking spot in the main lot. This year, the first major rain storm hit the day before, so everything looked fresh and clear. Great views of the Golden Gate Bridge and Marin Headlands. The trail has lots of stairs that help with the surface not to be washed out. The trails are dog friendly, so there were many hikers with their furry friends in tow. The trail is usually fairly crowded, but mostly fellow hikers are good natured. The views are spectacular and well worth the trip. Lots of photo ops.

I've done this hike twice-- once on a weekday and once on a Sunday. It's beautiful and so accessible from the city. If you have the choice come during the week though-- super crowded on the weekends. This hike is definitely more for the views than physicality, but views are worth it!!!

Easy, more of a nature walk but there are stairs that lead to the beaches that make it more fun/difficult. Dog friendly, great great views.

Plenty of shade, but lots of stairs! If you’re trying to make it to the labrynth, it’s a little farther along than you expect from the trail I think. I couldn’t find it!

I’m not a huge fan of urban trails, but I added this to my list to remind myself where good views are. I meander off the Lands End Trail a ton and went down to the bluffs (it’s a must!). Be prepared for some nudity on the beach, if that’s not your thing or if it is. Walk to the bridge and walk over the bridge! It’s a must.

My husband and I did this trail yesterday. It is beautiful but short. So when we got to the end we continued through the beautiful neighborhood of Sea Cliff and kept going through Presidio Park, all the way to Fisherman's Wharf. In total we hiked 8.37 miles and it was a beautiful walk. I highly recommend it!

Incredible views, definitely worth going. Lots of stairs and very sandy/rocky in spots. Steep slopes on the one side. The rock labyrinth is pretty cool, but it takes some creativity to get to it.

My favorite trail in sf. Awesome views (weather permitting), and undulating terrain. Nice stair action. Go down to mile rock beach and utilize all the stairs here. Even in the fog the place is beautiful. Instead of the loop just stay on the trail right on the coast and do a back and forth. Better views and better work out. Better on the weekdays than the weekends as crowds go.

I have mixed comments on this trail. There were tons of people, kids, and dogs. Parking was difficult but it was Saturday afternoon. The trail itself is flat and a little rocky but overall not difficult. There are a lot of stairs so wear decent shoes. The views of Golden Gate Bridge and the bay are outstanding. The baths are neat and the history of the area is worth checking out.

This hike offered a great view of the Golden Gate Bridge both with fog and once burned off. Lots of people but the visitor centre staff were very helpful. It was easily accessible by city transit so no parking problems.

Easy hike with nice side excursions to the beach or to an overlook but it is very heavily traveled what with bus after bus of tourists coming into the visitor center parking lot.

Amazing views, would recommend hike after 1pm to let the fog die down and get a better view of the Golden Gate bridge.

A lovely trail with beautiful views of the Golden Gate. It was so quiet and peaceful. The only sounds were the ocean and pure silence. Not too crowded, either.

Enjoyed the trail and views but it sucked that it was foggy. Couldn’t see the golden gate whatsoever.

Lands end is like one of the regulars. This is a popular spot so there is lots of people. It’s a little rocky at times and has lots of stairs which I like to sprint. There is beautiful scenery of the beach. This trail is a simple walk so if you want something scenic and simple I would recommend. Check it out.

Beautiful easy/moderate walk with spectacular views of the Golden Gate Bridge and Pacific Ocean. On clear days you can see farallon islands. May see seals, surfers, and whales! At low tide there’s a shipwreck that becomes partially visible. Check out the labyrinth for a secluded, intimate chill beach spot.

This is Heaven on Earth. If you don't take the stairs, you can stroll down the easy path. There is a molded map at the top, the parking area. Be sure to wear your hiking shoes, not Prada.
