Trail follows between the lake shore and the road above through oak groves. Nice views of the lake, although it’s a bit noisy from road noise. The trail itself is a bit overgrown in places and can be a little confusing. It continues past a closed gate and a ‘no trespassing’ sign for an additional 0.6 miles, although we did not proceed past this point. Plenty of benches and a decent amount of shade, but be careful of rattlesnakes and poison ivy.

While the lake view is nice many parts of the trail are overgrown. Also part of the trail leads to private property.

Not a loop, but still very nice. Shady and easy.

beautiful easy hike by the lake. meadowy with some rocky parts and didn’t see another person. the loop is more of an out and back. the lower trail is possible for part of the time but has a lot of overgrown parts.

Hiking

Its more of an out and back trail, not a loop because the trail by the water is non existent. The trail stops at a private property gate although the map shows for you to keep going. You could but enter at your own risk! Although it’s an easy trail there are some rocky areas that could be difficult for some. There is poison ivy in some areas but it’s avoidable.

Warning: Poison Ivy Not too over grown! There's a ton of poison ivy so long pants and high socks required. Fantastic hike though with a lot of cozy Rocky paths.

Closed Monday-Friday. They need staff on hand to “protect the area” in case anything were to happen. Curious if they hold your hand while you hike but I didn’t get the chance to ask him.

Hiking

This is not the hike that is described here. The trails here are very limited. You can hike West about 1 mile in and the trails disappear. They are not maintained in the water level is very very low. I went bushwhacking for a while and turned around. I then drove over the dam on Oakvale Road to check out the Egret Trail on the south side of the lake. it is basically a service road. About a mile long and then it just ends. so I turned around and went back to the car. There are some nice rocks to climb on on the lake is very pretty. Some people were catching a few fish.

I agree with the recent reviewers. It's a pretty area along the lake, but as far as walking/hiking goes, the trail is pretty nonexistent.

Although the area is pretty there isn't much of a trail that I could find according to this map. It is overgrown and not much of a path. This place would be good for a picnic/bbq instead

Great. Plenty of space on the trail. Lots of rattlesnakes and wildlife. That is the reason there are no dogs allowed. I see multiple snakes each hike in warmer months. Bring lots of water. Break ins at trail head near storage facility happen often. Don't leave anything in your car or park elsewhere.

I gave this hike a 5 star, because it's family friendly, very quiet, and has a beautiful landscape. The overlook is absolutely beautiful, and the trail is fairly easy. We also found a water well that is filled with water and rocks that is hidden under oak trees. I will definitely be back !

Great wooded hiking trail along the banks of the lake. Several good spots for fishing or even just taking in the view.
