Easy trail, mostly flat and wide, that relies primarily on a trailhead starting in one of two parking lots, then following a short road starting southwest around the lake to meet up with a dirt road - Amador Lane - taking that until abreast of Canyon View Dr. then striking onto the opposite, smaller dirt road, trail, path mix to finish circling the lake near the Lake Tabeaud Picnic Area entrance sign. No true trail markings, but an easily-followed route for scenery. Distance was not measured formally.

Over all nice quick hike. Trail was maintained well. Nice view of the lake most of the way around. There is only one small section that is a bit tricky on the far side. Very shady in the late afternoon. Lots of mosquitoes too. We sprayed down with bug spray and still got a few bites. We had the pleasure of seeing a bald eagle. Not many people on the trail but lots of people fishing.

I will preface this by saying that I'm 60 yrs old and out of shape. That aside, the trail was really nice. The most difficult part was on the far side, apparently the trail was washed out, and the scramble down and back up out of the gulch was a bit of work. Steep with loose dirt. We took the trail counterclockwise. The gulch may have been easier going the other way. I didn't mind the narrow trails or the drop offs, but I was pretty exhausted by the end of the hike.

Was ok for the quick trip we made. Went before sundown and it was pretty buggy close to the lake, muddy on most of the trail, and lotta teenagers hanging around in their trucks made it awkward. I’d suggest doing this in the am.

I came here to see if this was a good horseback riding area. A few good things and a few bad. There is not any trailer parking. Only half of the lake is horse accessible. The back side isn’t safe for horses. There is shade and the half of the lake you can ride on is a nice wide trail. The road to get to the lake is windy. I enjoyed this as a walking trail, took a little over an hour, but would not bring horses unless you live relatively close.

Nicely maintained trail, pretty views of lake. Just watch out we saw a lot of poison oak at various points along the path.

Brought my crew: 2 kids & a dog. We all enjoyed the drive, the beautiful spring weather and beauty of the lake. Packed lunches, spent time exploring and made it around the lake with breaks in 1 1-2 hours. We will be back to swim.

The lake is open(hopefully for good) and as beautiful as always.Today was just me, by backpack and my thoughts. Its a good stroll around the lake. One area of the trail on the far side of the lake as been washed out so its kind of a free for all to get down, across, and up the gulch. Other than that plenty of nature to be in awe of this time of year:)

We loved this trail loop around the lake. It’s a shorter hike at 2.5 miles but it’s not totally easy, the trail gets very narrow in some spots and you’ll have to climb up or climb down a few parts but it’s worth it, just be careful. The lake was beautiful, no boats are allowed, only kayaks and canoes, and you’re allowed to fish but you can’t swim so it was nice and peaceful. We got there around noon and there were only 3 other couples on the trail. It got busier around 3 when we left. There are plenty of fishing spots too. One hiker told us there was a poppy field nearby, so we’ll be checking that out next time.

A pretty good family trail. Some parts are a bit muddy in early Spring. Also a few sections that I would consider moderate rather than easy. My four year old made it just fine-with some rides from dad. Good shade and a pretty little lake.

Perfect for kids, we packed a backpack picnic and had a wonderful time meandering around the lake exploring the trail. FYI, this is a no contact lake, because it is used for drinking water.

Easy trail took my lazy dogs. Beautiful view 45 min with sitting and eating a Snack. Only a few spots the dogs didn’t like. Free parking

Easy to moderate. Only a couple places you need to hike up a incline or two. Parts of trail get really thin. Over all a very nice hike. Plenty of places to have a picnic lunch.

Such a beautiful and calm hike in the middle of December. Parts of the trail are flooded but not difficult to walk around, and avoid the muddy areas. Lots of tree coverage and leaves are changing colors, so makes for great photos!

Not a bad hike, a bit washed out but it was raining. One sketchy switchback due to the rain and mud, some over grown thorns, but over all nice trail. would be excellent with good weather.
