This trail was partly on a old farm, and we had to trespass a lot to finish it.

Difficult trail, don’t believe the “moderate” posted on this website. It was difficult he last 1.5 miles due to the steep. Last .5 miles are on asphalt, so if you’re bringing a dog only go early morning or later in the evening. Or be prepared to carry them so their feet don’t burn. Beautiful lake once reach the top. Just be careful on my way up two people threw up and one had to call for help from dehydration. Bring lots of water and take breaks :)!!

I’ve gone up the all pavement maintenance road with my pup on a very cool evening, he was good enjoyed it. Wouldn’t make the leap for a picture no matter how I coaxed. But this side I went without the pup and glad I did! He might not of been able to keep up. I would definitely put his boots on if I brought him up this trail. The time is including our rest break at the top before venturing back down Mt. Woodson.

Perfect trail to run if your knees permit the hills! Try to get here early because the sun can be pretty killer.

This one is a butt buster for sure but so worth it! Lots of hills, tons of hikers on the trail but once you make it to the top and reach Lake Ramona, you will feel amazing.

Easy local trail, walked it with my two kids (5 & 9yrs old)...it would be a good trail running track. The earlier you go in the day the easier it will be. It’s a busy trail so prepare to hear boom boxes every 30mins or so.

Great hike! Blessed with a cool breeze throughout. Kind and courteous people along the trail. And yes, the last bit was tough. I would do it again!

Trail is closed to Lake Ramona until further notice. We ended up hiking in a loop around the lake. It is a beautiful area with lots of different trails.

Very gorgeous scenery! Great views from the top of Ramona lake being able to see lake Poway in the distance. Ends with a pretty steep hike on a paved road. Look for small trails that takes you down to the bottom of lake Ramona. I walked about 9 miles (lake Poway to lake Ramona, walked at lake Ramona, and walked the remainder or lake Poway). Highly recommend!

Lovely trail. Well maintained. Quite an incline/got a good workout going up to each lake (so at the halfway point and again at the very end).

Very pleasant and quick hike! Trail well maintained and not too crowded. Very steep and lots of dog poop on the last section.

Thoroughly enjoyed this trail. Spectacular views in all directions, challenging for sure. Had to give it four stars for a couple of reasons; trail is paved in a couple of spots, definitely cut through some private property, and Potato Chip Rock reminds me of a Disneyland ride with all the people waiting there, lol. Would definitely do again!

First to Review

This is a great fitness hike with climbs to challenge you and downhills to provide interval training. Hot and no shade. Ramona dam at the top and Poway Lake at the finish. I started and ended at Poway Lake and linked up to Blue Sky.
