Beautiful scenery, lots of parking. Paved road for walking, running, biking, and hiking. Will come back again, I came in late. The gates open at 5:30 am and close at 7:30 pm.

This is my favorite place to cycle. Its simplistic trail and the beautiful scenic views is just enough to make you feel you are away from the suburban and city living.

Beautiful lake and awesome trail that runs right alongside it! It’s concrete. Some bugs at sunset but that’s usual. Very serene! Moderately busy, bicyclists, skateboarders, families, runners, walkers, and dog walkers can all be seen on the trail.

I took my 8 week old son for a stroller walk. It’s very scenic and easy to maneuver with a stroller. The only downside is that the benches are sporadic so I had to walk a bit to find a comfortable spot to nurse.

Go in the morning or in the cooler months. Not in the middle of the day in late July. Oops.

Walk along the trail or along the sidewalk/roadway. I prefer trail there is part that is road only.

Go early in the summertime, not a lot of shade and too hot for dogs to walk on the asphalt.

A good workout for those wanting a fairly level trail. Most of the trip around the park is on asphalt. Can get busy during the summer months. No user fee, plenty of parking and scenic. Be sure to bring water as it gets humid with not much of a breeze to cool you down. Skaters and bikers can be a nuisance, but for the most part everyone is respectful that visits here. The trail is on city of San Diego owned property. Boating and fishing are allowed at the lake.

Great to get your daily steps in! There isnt much shade so bring tons of sunblock, hats, and gaiters! Nice walking path, no hiking boots needed, just walking or running shoes :-)

Enjoying walking around the lake. Great workout

This was a very pleasant walk. The sun was shining, the path catches a beautiful breeze and there is plenty of wildlife and plants to take in. However I hesitate to call this a trail as the entire thing is paved and people zoom by on skates and bikes. This loop is great for a laid back stroll and has plenty of tables and restrooms along the route. I’ll definitely return, but don’t consider this a hike.

Great little hike you can take your dog on a long with your family. Easy walking on paved roads as well as dirt and rock trails. Bathrooms – Porta potty’s available. Boat and bike rentals too! Very friendly staff!

Paved trail throughout. Definitely well-trafficked. I got here at 7:30 am on a Saturday and just about managed to find a spot to park. Recommend going clockwise so you can get the shaded areas later. It does get tiring if you plan to jog the whole way, I probably ended walking 1/3 of the route. Keep to the right, get water and sunscreen. Get here early. Chances are, you won't find parking space after 8 am.
