Beautiful trail but difficult to navigate at times. The trail on the way up is rather steep in sections and exposed at some sections so proceed with caution on a hot day. We look a couple wrong turns at junctions throughout the trail but ended up finding out way back onto the route because of the sheer number of crisscrossing trails. The view at the top is worth it! Overall, I think this side is more fun, prettier, and less exposed than climbing up the south side of the mountain.

This loop is not moderate, it’s pretty darn difficult. It starts out okay, but then single tracks across a field (you’ll miss the turn off at least once) before heading nearly straight up not one but two peaks. The trail is steep, narrow, rocky, and not for anyone seeking a leisurely walk - you will work. Coming down is slightly easier but equally harrowing...much of it is steep, loose rock and leaves that are easy to lose your footing on. And if you’re over four feet tall, you will hit your head on low branches and overgrown bushes throughout the experience. But hey, it was a great workout.

Second half of the trail coming down from Middle peak after you leave fire road is very loose and doesn’t seem to be in use anymore.
