May 2020: Please check the park website for up to date information on closures / openings: https://www.fs.usda.gov/recarea/sbnf/recarea/?recid=26467 The 2-acre serene lake on Forest Service property offers good trout fishing during spring, summer and fall months. Occasionally, the lake freezes over in winter. Lake Fulmor is on National Forest land. The lake provides day use activities for the public. Fishing and picnic areas with grills, an encompassing trail that crosses a bridge, and beautiful surroundings make this an enjoyable spot for locals and tourists. A parking area is across the highway from the lake so use caution when crossing to and from the lake. You do need an Adventure or Recreation Pass to park.

CLOSED was just there yesterday. Yellow tape everywhere. Of course it’s ripped and you can still get in. But I opted to follow rules. Plus it was pretty creepy how lonely it was.

perfect walk for fresh mountain air. simple for families to enjoy. a tree fell on the bridge but you're able to climb the tree and walk across.

The lake is stunningly beautiful, especially in an overcast weather with a bit of a fog rolling over it. Not much of an exercise, as it is a short flat trail, but what a sight. There are some picnic tables and there is a restroom. The loop is broken by a fallen tree, you can only go halfway on both sides.

Nice easy flat walk for anyone. Bridge is still out due to a tree falling in the middle so you can only walk half way. Nice walk but wouldn’t do this one if you are looking for a hike.

Gorgeous views! Would love to come back here at dawn or dusk when there are less people! There is a warning sign for bears here (and snakes)!

Tree fell onto bridge that crosses the lake. Currently the loop is cut in half at the far end of the lake, both sides are accessible but not connected. Still peaceful and beautiful. Also, the 243 road closure starts just North of Lake Fulmor parking area, area only accessible from Idyllwild side.

Tree fell and blocked eastern loop so you cannot circumnavigate the entire lake!

As of Sept 1, tree still on bridge, so out & back only. Road closed, so only accessible via Idyllwild direction. We bought our day pass at Pine Cove market (~7mi before): https://www.fs.usda.gov/detailfull/r5/passes-permits/recreation/?cid=stelprdb5181410&width=full As advertised, bugs in the face the entire time. Was able to push a stroller along both sides of lake.

First, if you want to park in the lot across the street you need a Forest Adventure Pass from town. However, it may not be worth it unless you’re planning on fishing or having a picnic. The bridge at the back of the lake is also out (as of 7/21/19) since a tree fell on it, so you can’t do a complete loop. Be careful as there was a rattlesnake by the trail. Not worth a full hike, just a quick walk.

Nice simple loop, but bridge on far end had a large tree fall on it. Turned it into 2 out and backs.

The road to get here is under construction. You guys in California seem to have a real hard time keeping your national parks open. I was really looking forward to hiking here. Too bad

Great place, and beautiful. Came down from PineCove and found out you need a day pass or annual adventure pass to park. This should have been part of the app information.

Well, it is a body of water, but I wouldn't call it a lake. More like a pond. We were there in late June and it was pretty hot in the sun, not bad in the shade. Lots of bugs nipping at us. Oh, and definitely just an Easy stroll, not Moderate.
