Interesting hike. There are definitely a lot of side trails. Even with AllTrails gps on, it was a bit sketchy at times. Cool caldera! And liked the labyrinths!

Easy quick hike with the pups

Took my own path from the back side and came down the volcanic plug. Cool hike!

Great hike with beautiful views and wildflowers starting up everywhere. We went on a cloudy day which was perfect because there would be no shade on a sunny day. Lots of side trails, so check the map often to make sure you're on track. The trail was really washed out which made for a more rugged hike, which we enjoyed. The mule deer portion is a tough little section that will get your heart rate up. Great 2 hour hike, it was longer than 4 miles, we logged 5.2. Just FYI very popular for mountain biking, but they were all respectful.

A good hike to stretch your legs. The access trail to the loop is nearly 0.7 miles, so figure nearly 1.5 more miles than advertised. A lot of dog walkers were out. I started a little before sunrise and had a beautiful coyote cross the trail a few meters ahead of me. He didn't pay any attention to me but disappeared when i tried to approach for a photo.
