Beautiful scenery, but very muddy around the lake. Go counterclockwise to the route indicated here, as part of the trail is one-way

Gorgeous trail! The road leading to the trailhead marked on the map was closed so we parked near another trailhead that would drop us onto this route. There was ample paved parking. There was a beautiful mix of hills along slow running creeks, heavy canopy cover, and open patches. So strange to see Jewel lake totally dried up. We also came across a bobcat, luckily from a safe distance. In my years of working outdoors and plenty of hiking, I’ve never seen a bobcat in the wild. We spotted it running through an open meadow about 3/4 of a mile past the little farm (going clockwise on the trail). Part of the trail, called memory lane, did not allow dogs.

Dynamic trail. Some time by the water, in the trees, by the goats. Electrical fence across the trail about half way through the hike! We had to leave the trail and walk along the road for almost a mile to get around the section closed off for the goats. It would have been really annoying if the goats weren’t so cute to watch!

Great trail, but bunch of bugs and came home with a tick. Do a body check before you leave.

Too many bugs on the second half of trail! Also way too many people partying out in the lake.. felt distracting to enjoy the hike and nature at least for the first half.

I had trouble figuring out how to stay in this particular trail. I ended up on the road a lot. I would come back to this area because it’s quite beautiful, however I’d try a different trail

This is more an easy trail. It was so sad to see so many items left by people on the lake area.

Nice trail around Tilden, but there are lots of bugs this time of the year. The Lake also has lots of groups of people around it during the summer. There’s one section of Lake Anza that’s tough to get around when the water is this high, but it’s doable. The parking lot at Lake Anza is closed due to COVID, so I parked near where the road was blocked off to start the loop.

Nice, easy trail. Not much elevation climb and you walk past the farm. VERY muddy on Wild Cat Gorge Trail during January/rainy season. Hiking boots in the mud is a must.

Nice trail but had a little too much close to the road. Also very muddy in sections in rainy season.

CW direction, very easy and relatively flat Trail, the last mile and a half was more on an incline and some areas around the lake were rocky.

This is a great flat easy 4 mile run to and from Lake Anza. Bring a suit to take a dip after your run!
